Specialized meeting "Virtual space and history; Opportunities and Threats" was held at the Research Institute of Culture, Art And Communication with the cooperation of the Iranian History Association and with the presence of Saeed Mir Mohammadsadegh (history researcher) and Hossein Hasani (academic faculty member of the Research Institute of Culture, Art and Communication) and Vida Hamraz (academic faculty member of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting University).

In the first part of this meeting, Hossein Hosni, aking a quick look at the relationship between media and history, said about the studies conducted in this field: In Iran, the studies conducted in these fields are the history of the media or history in the media.

Departments in the field of media studies in other countries have very rich studies in this field, but in Iran these studies are faint and history and media researchers do not have much desire to conduct studies in this field.

He stated by comparing the history in the two platforms of mass media and virtual space: In conduction of history in the context of mass media, operations such as gatekeeping and editing are applied to them, and we generally come across facts that have been produced by professionals, but history in the virtual space has a different situation.

He said: today we are faced with user-generated content; historians or historical professors are not producers. In new situation, we are faced with information from history that changes the path of our understanding of the motivations for sharing content.

The faculty member of the Research Institute of Culture, Art and Communication, by dividing the false historical information into misinformation and disinformation, considered most of the historical Instagram posts to be related to the Pahlavi era and ancient times.

In the end, he pointed out the low level of historical literacy and virtual space literacy and said: users who publish historical posts related to the Pahlavi era may be monarchists or ordinary people who purify that era with an idealistic approach.

We have to accept that our historical - cyberspace literacy is low and we should not expect people to look for the validity of information on virtual pages.

First of all, it is the duty of historical institutions, associations, document centers, etc., which must adapt to this situation with the duty they have in the field of recording history.

The transfer of historical literacy should be in such a way that some of the problems are reduced before it.
