Sociology books role in student’s daily life

Ali Entezari stated that all textbooks contribute to the issue of identity and said: history books are one of the constituents of national identity. How to define this course determines the type of students' exposure to the issue of identity. Unfortunately, we are not doing well in textbooks.

Basically, textbooks are a part of the comprehensive system of socializing students, but because no specific theoretical plan has been provided for them, this mission has not been carried out properly. For example, in the history books, we have mistakenly considered the history as the history of the kings, and this has caused us to bring the names of the dynasties one after the other and impose them on the students. Social studies books are also like that, and there are words in them that are not clear to students and even teachers.

The course materials are such that they do not meet any need, and this causes students to become alienated from the textbooks. These same things will cause society's expectations from people to be unfulfilled in the future.

Entezari criticized the way history was presented to students and said: If we defined history as a family album, it would be interesting for the student and would learn about history from this album. But when this space does not exist, we concentrate in history of kings, and this causes the message not to be conveyed properly and the authors' goals not to be fulfilled.

He said: we have always tried to portray the kings negatively, which has resulted at the cost of suppressing and making history negative. Even most of our television movies present a dark and negative face of history, but the Americans, who have not had a good history, present a happy and attractive account of their history.

He added: One of the positive points in our history is the peaceful coexistence of different ethnic groups, including Armenians, Zoroastrians, Jews, etc., which we have rarely seen in history. Students cannot relate to the history books taught in schools today. These shortcomings have made us unable to do well in the field of strengthening national identity.

People in the conditions of economic fluctuations immediately convert Rials to dollars, that is, they do not have a strong national spirit and only see the economic aspect of the issue. Therefore, regardless of the transnational identity, we also have a problem in the national dimension, which shows itself even more when it reaches the level of ethnic groups.
